Lend Us Your Ears presents “My Name Is Lucy Barton”

April 9, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

LEND US YOUR EARS, the reading series at the Bellingham Theatre Guild, continues with Elizabeth Strout’s My Name is Lucy Barton, adapted by Rona Munro, a tender drama of reunion and remembrance, on April 9, 2022, at 2 pm.

The Pay-What-You-Will performance, directed by WWU legend Jim Lortz, details the journey of rediscovery when Lucy Barton wakes up in a hospital room with her estranged mother at her side. One of the biggest hits in London and New York before COVID shut down theaters and an triumphant audio play, this story performed by a single actress takes from the uncertain security of the present to the downtrodden years of poverty, and back again as memories reconcile between mother and daughter. The play contains adult language and situations and will be performed by local actress Beth Wallace.

Audience will need to provide proof of vaccination and wear a mask during the performance. Like all previous readings, admission is Pay-What-You-Will at the door, no reservations necessary.

LEND US YOUR EARS (with the mission: Good Plays Read Well) produces matinee readings with local actors in front of the curtains, with general admission seating and the audience choosing what it wants to pay. No reservations necessary and any questions can be directed to LUYE Artistic Director, Sean Walbeck (sean@gigglewax.com, 360-647-9242).

“My Name is Lucy Barton” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. www.concordtheatricals.com
