LUYE presents “Good People,” a play reading
“Good People” next LUYE reading on the Bellingham Theatre Guild’s stage, February 7, 2026, at 2pm
LEND US YOUR EARS, the reading series at the Bellingham Theatre Guild, presents David Lindsay-Abaire’s clear-eyed drama about a woman’s struggle to survive the tough economic climate of her native South Boston neighborhood. An award-winning drama that has played around the country and the world, Good People finds the humor and the heartbreak in comparing those who make it with those still trying to keep afloat; the reading will be performed on February 7 at 2pm on the BTG stage.
The Pay-What-You-Will performance, directed by Ann Smith, shows Margaret lose her job and try to find another from an old flame who got out of the neighborhood and became a doctor. Her dire situations force her to face her path to finding her own value while keeping her head above water, from dollar stores and bingo halls to well-appointed homes and offices. Good People will be performed by local actors Beth Wallace, Robert Fredricksen, Ethel Stephens, Cindy Whiston, Skyla Sanders, Jim Dalessandro and Christopher Coombs and contains adult language and adult situations.
LEND US YOUR EARS (with the mission: Good Plays Read Well) produces matinee readings with local actors in front of the curtains, with general admission seating and the audience choosing what it wants to pay. No reservations necessary.
