LUYE presents “Three Days of Rain”

LEND US YOUR EARS, the reading series at the Bellingham Theatre Guild, presents late playwright Richard Greenberg’s Three Days of Rain, a sharply funny drama about family and misunderstanding on December 12, at 2pm on the BTG Stage.

The Pay-What-You-Will performance, directed by Deshanna Brown, follows estranged siblings and their childhood friend unraveling mysteries tied to a parent’s will. This generation of adult kids wrestles with slippery truths of their parents’ legacy in the first act, and then the same actors play the parents decades earlier in the second act, revealing truths even more slippery. Three Days of Rain, experiencing a Broadway revival in a few short months, is part of the late playwright’s compelling body of work and is presented in Bellingham for the first time with talented local actors Matthew Heggem, Lauren Brigolin, and Jamie Healt. The play contains adult language and adult situations.

LEND US YOUR EARS (with the mission: Good Plays Read Well) produces matinee readings with local actors in front of the curtains, with general admission seating and the audience choosing what it wants to pay. No reservations necessary and any questions can be directed to LUYE Artistic Director, Sean Walbeck (sean@gigglewax.com, 360-647-9242).

Three Days of Rain is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Dramatists Play Service

Phil Connors, a seasoned big-city weatherman, is frustrated to be to reporting the annual Groundhog Day Ceremony in small town Punxsutawney, PA. His arrogance and cynicism are in direct opposition to the cheery townsfolk, who are ready for their favorite Groundhog to not see his shadow and welcome an early spring. After disdainfully covering the rodent's negative forecast, he awakens the next day only to discover it's February 2 once more. Will Phil accept that he is doomed to repeat the same day over and over again? Or will he find the courage to change himself and his fate?
