September 23, 2026 -Auditions: Family Furniture
Auditions: Family Furniture
Auditions for the remaining roles in the BTG Satellites production of A. R. Gurney’s "Family Furniture" are scheduled for September 23rd, 6 pm - 8 pm, at the Explorations Academy (1701 Ellis Street, #215).
Director Gregory Berry of Outsiders Inn has already cast the mother in this clear-eyed coming-of-age story of that certain summer in the 1950s when everything shifts for one particular family. Berry is looking for actors to fill the major roles of the father and the younger members of the family. Those roles are:
- Russell, the father, fifties
- Nick, the son, early twenties
- Peggy, the daughter, a couple years older than Nick
- Betsy, Nick's girlfriend, early twenties
Actors are expected to be ready for movement and prepared to do some cold readings from the script.
If necessary, there will be callbacks on September 24, 2026.
One of the gems in Gurney’s body-of-work exploring WASP culture in America, Family Furniture performs at the New Prospect Theatre from November 12-22, 2026, with 7:30pm evening performances, and 2pm matinees on Sundays, with tickets at $15, and available at New Prospect Theatre via ThunderTix (tickets available in September 2026).
BTG SATELLITES is a partnership between the Bellingham Theatre Guild and the New Prospect Theatre, to produce theater outside the confines of the BTG. All performances are at the New Prospect Theatre, 207 Prospect Street, Bellingham WA, and advance ticket purchases are always encouraged. LUYE presents “Red Herring”
LEND US YOUR EARS (LUYE) presents Michael Hollinger’s mystery-thriller-parody-spoof Red Herring for the Pay-What-You-Will play-reading series September 26, 2026, at 2pm.
Come hear a reading of Red Herring, Michael Hollinger’s comedy about love, murder and nuclear espionage in 1952. Red Herring follows marriage, intrigue, marriage, mystery, spies and the pursuit of Havana honeymoons to their farcical extremes and performs on September 26th, 2pm on the BTG stage, kicking off LUYE’s 9th season.
The Pay-What-You-Will performance, directed by Les Campbell, discovers Joe McCarthy’s daughter dating a spy in the shadow of the first H-Bomb test and detective Maggie Pelletier identifying a body dumped in the harbor before it wrecks her honeymoon. Shenanigans with a noir spin, with tying, untying and retying the knot, Red Herring will be performed by talented local actors and contains adult language and adult situations.
LEND US YOUR EARS (with the mission: Good Plays Read Well) produces matinee readings with local actors in front of the curtains, with general admission seating and the audience choosing what it wants to pay. Auditions: Groundhog Day: The Musical
BTG is holding open auditions for Groundhog Day: The Musical.
Open Auditions: September 27 & 28 | 7:00 pm
Callbacks by invitation: September 29 | 7:00 pm
This musical will have 20 roles for actors aged 18-60+. Be prepared to sing 60 seconds (or one verse and chorus) of a contemporary pop/rock Broadway song in front of the creative team; piano accompaniment or a
bluetooth speaker will be available for backing tracks. A dance call will be conducted once everybody has sung. Close toed shoes highly recommended as well as tap shoes if you have them; all auditions will be
considered regardless of tap experience. All roles will dance or otherwise move; comfortability moving and dancing is a plus, dress prepared for movement. We are actively seeking talent of all races, ethnicities, and gender identities.

Phil Connors, a seasoned big-city weatherman, is frustrated to be to reporting the annual Groundhog Day Ceremony in small town Punxsutawney, PA. His cynicism is in direct opposition to the cheery townsfolk, who
are ready for their favorite Groundhog to not see his shadow and welcome an early spring. After disdainfully covering the rodent's negative forecast, he awakens the next day only to discover it's February 2 once more. Will Phil accept that he is doomed to repeat the same day over and over again? Or will he find the courage to change himself and his fate?
Warnings: Some adult language, death, gunshots, smoke effects, flashing lights, suicidal ideation/attempts, and sexual assault (man attempts to kiss woman)
Show runs November 27 through December 13, please come prepared to note any conflicts.
